Enrollment Procedure for Manara Academy

Manara Academy is an open-enrollment charter school. Students who will attend K-8th grades for the 2014-2015 school year from the following school districts may apply:
Manara Academy is a tuition-free open enrollment charter school funded by the State of Texas.
Criteria for Admission
There are no tests or qualifications required to attend Manara Academy. Timely application and availability of space are the determining factors for enrollment.
Any student who lives within our acceptance school districts and who submits a timely application may attend Manara Academy. If the number of applications exceeds the school's capacity, applicants will be selected through a lottery process.
How to Apply?
Step 1: Parent Completes the Online Application Form and Submits
Step 2: Parent will be given a number for use in the Lottery Process. (Applications are not first come first serve)
Step 3: Open-Lottery will be conducted
If enrollment exceeds the school’s capacity during the specified enrollment period, a lottery will be held to determine student placement. If enrollment does not exceed charter capacity during the specified enrollment period, students will be automatically enrolled at the end of the specified time. Waiting lists will automatically be developed for each grade level.
Step 4: Notification of Acceptance
Parents are welcome to join the Open Lottery, after the lottery is conducted a spreadsheet will be on the website to notify the parents of their child/children's enrollment/waitlist
In order to guarantee your child’s placement, parents/guardians must make an appointment to fill out the enrollment forms that are only available in the Registrar's Office.
If you have received notification that your child has been added to the waitlist for the 2014-2015 school year, we will notify you as soon as a space opens.
What is the procedure for withdrawing a student who is moving to another school?
Please call the school at least 72 hours in advance and alert the Registration office of your child’s pending withdrawal. You will need to come to the school and sign the records request withdrawal acknowledgement form and inform the Registrar of your child’s new school. We will prepare paperwork, grade reports and collect overdue and nonpayment of lunch menus and bus fees. We will make this process as smooth and easy as possible for you and your child.
