Good Morning Manara STEM Families, This week is the last week in our 4th 6 week period. There are a lot of things going on this week, such as STAAR Interim for scholars in grades 3 - 8 for math and reading, Friendship Day, and completing final grades for the end of the 4th 6 week period. Our campus will be closed to visitors on Tuesday, February 13 and Thursday, February 15 for our STAAR Interim testing so we can create a quiet, secure testing environment with as little disruptions as possible. Parents will not be allowed in the building on these days, so if you have items you need to drop off to your child, please place the item(s) on the "Forget-Me-Not" table by the front entrance labeled with your child's name and grade level and Ms. Tabatha will make sure to get it to your child. Also, please make sure your child is ON TIME to school, as testing will begin first thing in the morning! Reach out to Ms. Tabatha if you have any questions pertaining to the closed campus to visitors on these days. And don't forget...Cookie Grams are on sale through Tuesday, February 13! Good afternoon 8th grade STEM families! Dr. Wilshire, the principal of the Manara Leadership Campus, and Ms. Floyd, the District counselor, is currently on our campus today, February 9th until 4:00pm to talk with you and your rising 9th grade student about activities and classes your scholar will be able to take part in next year at the Leadership Campus. We're gauging interest from our families for a bus for our 9th through 12th grade students that would be able to take your child daily to the Irving location from our STEM campus and back to our STEM campus. This is a great time to ask questions and get information if you are interested in your child attending high school at Manara. Good Afternoon Manara STEM Families, The book fair this past week was very successful! Thank you for supporting the love of reading on our campus, and thank you to the PTO for the organized fun-filled week! Please add to your calendars that March 25 is now a school day. Originally it was a "bad weather make-up day", and since we had a bad weather day off in January, we will be making up that day on March 25 (the Monday after Spring Break). Do you know of any families who would want to register their child for the 2024-2025 school year at Manara? Send them our way! Any current family who recommends a family for enrollment and they come on February 2 or February 9 to register their child(ren), your child (or all of your children who attend our campus currently) will receive the last 6 weeks Friday dress down days for FREE (you won't have to pay for the last 6 dress down days!). Good morning, STEM families! Today is our Family Fun Event with a literacy focus on our campus from 4:00pm-5:30pm! The Scholastic Book Fair will take place that afternoon, as well as several fun literacy game stations all throughout the school to take part in. I'm excited to also have our community partners, Arlington Charities, with their Mobile Food Pantry here on campus from 4:15pm until 5:15pm, in which our families will again have an opportunity to receive FREE groceries! Good Evening Manara STEM Families, This week, January 29 - February 2, is our Scholastic Book Fair week. Students will have the opportunity to shop each day next week during scheduled times. Please read within the newsletter the opportunity to sign your child up for an eWallet through Scholastic. This is a great way to give your child money for the book fair without having to send them with cash to school. We will also have themed "literacy" days throughout the week to celebrate reading. In the newsletter are the themes for the days. Students CAN dress out of uniform if participating in the themed days. Only appropriate costumes and items going with the costumes should be worn (no face coverings, no onesies, no toy weapons). If you have a question about your child's book character dress up items, please reach out to your child's teacher. Our Literacy Family Fun Event is this Tuesday, January 30 from 4:00 - 5:30pm.
